Accessing a Remote Termbase

To log in to a shared network termbase, you need a MultiTerm Server login ID and machine details for MultiTerm Server. This information is communicated manually to you by the termbase administrator.

A login ID consists of a user name and password. The machine detail for MultiTerm Server is simply the name of the machine where MultiTerm Server is installed

To access a remote termbase:

  1. Select Termbase Connection from the Tools menu. The Termbase Connection dialog box opens.

  2. Select Local and MultiTerm Server. Standard LAN is selected by default. If you need a MultiTerm Anywhere connection to access a termbase through a firewall, select MultiTerm Anywhere.

  3. Enter the name of the server in the MultiTerm Server box.

  4. Click OK. The MultiTerm Login dialog box appears with your user name in it.

  5. Enter your password and click OK. You should now have access to the server that contains the termbase.

  6. From the Termbase menu, select Open. The list of available termbases in the Open Termbase dialog box now includes remote (shared network) as well as local termbases.

Note: If another user is editing an entry, you will be able to search for and view it, but you will not be able to edit it until they have finished editing.
