Copying and pasting text is also supported in DOS, and in some Linux applications. <H2>Guest PCs with Windows and Additions</H2> <P>If a guest PC is running Windows, and the Virtual PC Additions have been installed, text and graphics can be transferred transparently between the guest and host PC. To transfer a graphic or text selection from one to the other, simply copy and paste as you normally would between two programs on the host PC. The text or graphic is transferred via the clipboard. <P>Text selections are copied unformatted. Any text formatting, such as bold, italic, or paragraph style, is not transferred.</P> <P CLASS=NOTE><B>Note</B>: You can also paste text into a guest PC program using the guest PC Edit menu. When you use this method the text will be transferred as a series of keystrokes.</P> <H2>Other Guest PCs</H2> <P>If a guest PC is running an operating system other than Windows with Virtual PC Additions, Virtual PC provides a special tool for transferring text and graphics. Text may be transferred between guest and host PC in both directions. Graphics may be transferred from the guest to host PC only.<BR> <H2>Transferring text and graphics from a guest PC</H2> <P>Virtual PC provides a marquee tool that you can use to select a portion of the guest PC window. When you use the marquee tool, Virtual PC copies both the graphic and text content of the guest PC window. You can then paste the text or graphic information into a program running on the host PC.</P> <P><B>To transfer text or graphics from the guest PC:</B> <OL CLASS=STEP> <LI>Hold down the <A HREF="../../vpc03/pgs/vpc3Keyboard.htm">host key</A> and drag the mouse to select a portion of the guest PC window. </P> <P>Alternately, to select the entire window area, choose Select All from the guest PC Edit menu.</P> <P>To deselect an area, hold down the host key and click within the PC window.<BR> <LI>Select Copy from the guest PC Edit menu. </OL> <P>A graphic selected with the marquee tool is stored as a bitmapped image.</P> <P>Text selections are copied unformatted.
